Charles Jennings

Chief Executive Officer, Swan Island Networks

An author and frequent speaker on technology and government, Charles Jennings has founded and led the companies Swan Island Networks, GeoTrust and Preview Systems, and the not-for-profit, security-focused organizations TRUSTe and RAINS. He is the author of six books, including The Hundredth Window: Protecting Your Privacy and Security in the Age of the Internet (Simon & Schuster, 2000), which has been translated into four languages and distributed world-wide. Jennings and his work were the focus of a major feature story in Wired Magazine’s December 2005 issue.

Jennings holds two patents for secure content distribution over public networks. He is the architect of Oregon’s award-winning Connect & Protect information sharing system, a finalist for the inaugural Mitretek Innovations Award in Homeland Security, from Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Jennings has been a speaker at top conferences regionally and worldwide. In 1999, he was a keynote speaker at the United Nations 50th Anniversary Conference on Human Rights in Toulouse, France. In 2006, he spoke at a conference on Homeland Security at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He is a Trustee Emeritus on the Board of Trustees of The Northwest Academy, a private Portland, Oregon school, and served four years as Chair. Honors include the 2004 Individual Achievement Award from the Oregon Entrepreneurs Foundation, among the highest business awards in Oregon; and the 2005 Federal 100 Award, given by Federal Computer Week to the 100 most influential people in government technology.

Prior to his career in high tech, Jennings was Producer or Executive in Charge of Production for films and television shows including James Clavell’s Tai-Pan (the first feature length American film produced in China); Shooter (Emmy for Best Cinematography); and Christmas At the Juniper Tavern (Winner of the ACE award for cable excellence). He is also the creator of the nationally-syndicated newspaper comic strip Pluggers.

James P. Noblitt
Vice President and General Manager
Boeing Missile and Space Division (Retired)

During a distinguished 37-year career at Boeing, Mr. Noblitt oversaw the operations of a diverse aerospace concern whose approximately 4000 employees in Kent, WA, Huntsville, AL and Houston, TX, performed vital work for the nation’s space and missile programs.

While serving as President, Boeing Commercial Space Company, Mr. Noblitt was responsible for Boeing’s work as prime contractor on NASA’s International Space Station. This period in his career also saw him responsible for the Sea Launch Program (a joint Boeing, Russian, Ukrainian & Norwegian launch system), the Air Force/NASA Inertial Upper Stage booster rocket program, R&D programs for the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization under the Department of Defense and a variety of civil and military space systems development efforts.

He was also responsible for the production of the U.S. Army’s AVENGER air defense system and the development of various domestic and export derivatives.

In 1996 Mr. Noblitt was awarded the Von Braun Space Program Management Award by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In 1999 he was awarded the Outstanding Aerospace Engineer by the Purdue University Aeronautics and Astronautics School.

Pete O'Dell
Founder, Director, Swan Island Networks

Pete O’Dell is a technology executive seasoned in multiple industry segments. Before joining Swan Island Networks, he was COO of Supertracks, COO of Online Interactive, CIO of MicroWarehouse; CIO/Sr. VP of Upgrade Corp. of America; president of Autodesk Retail Products (a $20m subsidiary); president of Loyalty Management Systems (a software startup), and director of technical services for Criton Technologies. He also has held technical positions at Microsoft, Digital Equipment and Systems Development Corporation.

He holds his Bachelors’ degree in Business Information Systems and Production Management from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and his Master’s of Business Administration in Technical Management from the University of Phoenix. Pete was a faculty member at the National College of Business and Technology where he taught Computer Science and Systems Analysis. O’Dell has four years of military service in the United States Army. He is the author of The Computer Networking Book, published by Ventana Press.

O’Dell’s experience in both established and startup companies brings strong leadership, communication and team building capabilities. He is an expert at translating vision and strategy to operational execution. O’Dell enjoys golfing and is an avid fly fisherman.

Charles L. Killpack
Chief Executive Officer, Pixxures, Inc.

Mr. Killpack has extensive executive experience in the creation, management, growth and strategic development of high technology companies. His most recent position has been as CEO of Pixxures, Inc., a leading provider of aerial photographic mapping products and services, direct-digital orthophotography, planimetric and topographic mapping, vector alignment, and GIS products and services via the Internet. Prior to that he served as President of E-Conagra.com, a start-up independent operating company within ConAgra Foods focused on internet delivery of agricultural information as well as imagery. Prior to this position he was the General Manager and Director of Worldwide Sales for ESRI, Inc., the largest software and services company in the world focused on Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies.

He has also held positions as General Manager, Aeronca Electronics, GIS Division, as a Researcher and Assistant Professor at Utah State University and as a Research Fellow at the Holcomb Research Institute. Mr. Killpack has a Masters Degree from Harvard University in Landscape Architecture and Planning, a Bachelors Degree from Utah State University in Landscape Architecture and Sociology (double major) and an Associate Science Degree from Dixie Junior College.

Scott Gutting
Founder and President, Energy Strategies

Energy Strategies provides economic, project development and regulatory consulting services to clients that include independent power producers, renewable energy developers, utilities, transmission companies, industrial consumers, trade associations, and multi-national manufacturers, including many Fortune 500 companies.

Mr. Gutting serves on the Board of Directors of the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), the largest electric reliability council in North America ranging from Canada to Mexico. WECC is responsible for overseeing electric system reliability, supporting competitive electricity markets, and for coordinating the operating and planning activities of 180 power and utility companies located in the western interconnected power grid.

Mr. Gutting is also an outside strategic advisor to support Wayzata Investment Partners as Wayzata expands its investment portfolio. Wayzata Investment Partners LLC is a global investment management company. The company’s limited partners are a diverse group of investors including pension funds, endowments and foundations and high net worth individuals. Wayzata currently has $2.5 billion under management. The investment funds will be used to assist Wayzata in growing its portfolio.

Mr. Gutting was recently appointed by the Governor of Utah to serve on the Governor's Blue Ribbon Advisory Council on Climate Change.

He has a B.S. Degree from Northern Arizona University and an MLA from Utah State University.
